Tito's Partisans external image Osprey_W073_Tito_Partisans_1941-45.jpgThe Tito's Partisans were followers of Tito and were a communist led resistance movement in attempts to stop the Axis Powers in Yugoslavia. Despite the fact that their name suggests they fought as a guerrilla force, this was only true for the first three years of the conflict. From the second half of 1944 the total forces of the Partisans numbered 800,000 men organized in four field armies and 52 divisions, which engaged in conventional warfare. The Partisans would dress up as Nazi soldiers and when an U.S. plane would crash in Yugoslavia the Partisans would approach the soldiers and take the soldiers in a manner that made it look like they were taking them prisoner. They did this so the Nazi army would think that some Nazi's got them and took them hostage. The Partisans would aid the U.S. soldiers and helm the get "back on their feet".
